Well, the Glenn Hall Pool isn't going to be as cool as Santa Monica Pier, but it will still be a great oppritunity to test the water. In the name of constantly varied fitness, and learning new sports, we have reserved the pool this coming Saturday for a CF swimming workout.
THERE WILL BE NO CLASSES AT CFES THIS SATURDAY.
All CFES members, including current On-Rampers are welcome to come join us from 10AM to noon for the WOD. Meet at Glenn Hall Pool at 10AM sharp! If you're late, you will be doing underwater burpees until the rest of us stop laughing. Bring swim goggles if you have them, I suggest you go buy some if you don't. Dudes... board shorts are great for CF swimming, no one wants to look at your dime sac while your doing exercises on the pool deck. Brain Nabeta is going to take us through a 20 minute swim warm-up/technique session and then we will do the WOD. The pool will be staffed with lifegaurds, so don't be shy if your swiming skills are lacking.
Click for directions to Glenn Hall Pool
Check out CF Endurance for a bunch of instructional swim videos from the gurus.

Me no comprende... are we selling dime sacks of something? I thought it went without saying that we at crossfit would rather you wear real shorts in order to increase the resistance. After Justin's money shot a few weeks ago, I find it rather amusing he is scared of seeing men in Banana Hammocks! Com'on Bro... I say the standard be... if you can swim a proper butterfly, or finish a 100m freestyle in under 1:15 You can wear whatever you want! I know my ass won't qualify so I am fine. We do however have some crazy swimmers here at cfes. Until I can kick your ass in the water I won't say a word.

Way awesome. I am a born swimmer...because, yes freaky shoulders are helpful in some activities. I plan to be there. My own googles need replacing after 10 years of no swimming, but I do recommend them highly!!
Posted by: Tashnelson | August 17, 2011 at 07:03 AM
Yesssss. Haven't swam in at least three years but I AM IN! Can't wait!
Posted by: Hollis | August 17, 2011 at 08:02 AM
IM so excited!!!
Posted by: Sarah W | August 17, 2011 at 08:37 AM
So bummed I am going to be out of town for this! Hope we are able to do something like this again.
Posted by: Edgar | August 17, 2011 at 09:17 AM
I'll be there! Banana hammock and all.
Posted by: Josh | August 17, 2011 at 09:20 AM
I will pitch in for the bikini waxing if Lene shows up for the WOD in a banana hammock. I would offer the same for Justin, but I hear he has already had the waxing done.
Needless to say I am in for the WOD, I am hoping Blake is going to make it so that Hollis and I aren't competing for palest in the pool.

Do we have an ordained minister in the house? I think I'll use this opportunity to be re-baptized. I'm in need...
Posted by: Ryan Lippmann | August 17, 2011 at 10:35 AM
Don't worry, Bro Mike. I'll be in the running for the most blindingly white person in the pool. One day all these freckles are going to merge and then I'll finally be tan. And probably dead.
Posted by: Steller | August 17, 2011 at 10:48 AM
Lippmann, I am an ordained minister.
Posted by: Brother Mike | August 17, 2011 at 11:07 AM

Free to become an ordained minister; however, baptizing Lippmann might cost you your immortal soul.
Posted by: Brother Mike | August 17, 2011 at 11:15 AM
Bro-Mike, you aren't getting near me.
Posted by: Ryan Lippmann | August 17, 2011 at 11:15 AM
let's toss in a bike ride too so I can show off my triathlon skills.
Posted by: Matt P | August 17, 2011 at 11:46 AM
Awesome! Can't wait! :)
Posted by: Donna | August 17, 2011 at 12:03 PM
yes let's throw in a bike WOD!
Posted by: Liz | August 17, 2011 at 12:24 PM
There's no competition for the palest. My friends used to call me "clear" instead of white because you can see my veins through my skin. As another pale ginger in the box says, it is HARD work to be this white ;)
Posted by: Hollis | August 17, 2011 at 12:30 PM
Oh, and since Lippmann is in, does anyone know if VD can be transferred through water?
Posted by: Hollis | August 17, 2011 at 12:31 PM
If so, Bro Mike is most definitely in. Anything he can do to share something with his Lippy.
Posted by: Hollis | August 17, 2011 at 12:34 PM
You crazy cyclists and triathletes can pedal your hearts out if you want. I'll be focused on just showing off my not-drowning-for-time skills.
Posted by: Steller | August 17, 2011 at 12:51 PM
Let's see, I can never remember which one i have... HSV-1 or -2? Ugh, too much responsibility.
Anyways, point being that I think they are both water transmissable. Unless I've gone completely "Outbreak" style and have gone aerial. I'll get back to you all on that. Maybe I'll just wrap my entire body in SaranWrap and call it good.
Best part about this post? I'M KIDDING!!!
Unless you are Brother Mike, then I'm not kidding when I say, if i feel a hand creep on me, I'm going Shark Week on your ass, er, body, er, on you.

Bro Mike will probably be too busy cursing at elderly people to make it to the pool this weekend. If you're 70+, blind and def, you better watch out for Broski.
Posted by: Justin Riley | August 17, 2011 at 01:29 PM
Old fucker followed me looking for an argument, not the other way around. If I can some how avoid being stalked by another alzheimer's patient, I will be in the pool.
I am off to get vaccinated for gonoherpesyphillaids so that I don't catch anything in Lippmann's pool water.
Posted by: brother mike | August 17, 2011 at 01:33 PM
Bro - did you watch mens event #1 at the games? I might just go Mikko Salo on you... Can't vaccinate against that shit! (Pun intended).
Posted by: Ryan Lippmann | August 17, 2011 at 01:38 PM
Justin... can all of us go in the first heat and Broski and Lippmann go in the second heat? Just in case.
Posted by: Matt P | August 17, 2011 at 01:50 PM
If I get to pick heats, I wanna go in Josh's heat- of all the different people I work out with he has the ability to bring the best out of me in a workout.
Posted by: Brother Mike | August 17, 2011 at 02:11 PM
BroMike - your brother meant swim heats, not animalistic heats. You really should leave your romantic feelings for other CF'ers at home, in your bedroom, where they belong.

Anyone else uncomfortable by now? Oh hey, look at this interesting article on coconut water: http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/08/08/really-the-claim-for-better-hydration-drink-coconut-water/
Posted by: Steller | August 17, 2011 at 02:24 PM
Can't nearly be feeling as uncomfortable as Bro Moke getting the call out. I'm sure his response will do it though for those who are not yet feeling it.
Posted by: Hollis | August 17, 2011 at 03:03 PM
Sorry, I was trying to find our where Borat shops for swim suits.
Posted by: Brother Mike | August 17, 2011 at 03:27 PM
Sabrina- seems odd that to distract from the Lippmann/Broski love fest, you would put up a link about salty 'nut water.
Posted by: Matt P | August 17, 2011 at 03:32 PM
Apparently there's no escape. I give up. Maybe ear plugs are a good idea on Saturday in addition to goggles.
Posted by: Steller | August 17, 2011 at 03:38 PM
Oh, you won't need to worry about seeing anything between me and Lippmann. I respect Travis too much to go near his bitch.
Posted by: Brother Mike | August 17, 2011 at 03:55 PM
Swim WOD?! Of course it is when I am stuck in hot/muggy/dirty Queens. :(
Have a great workout! Really miss CFES - especially the dirty 6:30 crew. Hope to be back soon!
Posted by: LauraB | August 17, 2011 at 04:18 PM
Oh don't get it twisted, this isn't a "love fest" by any means. Based on BroMike's silence in the box, he's easily intimidated by public encounters.
LB - we miss you too. The crack house picture on FB was aaaamaaaazinnnggg!
Posted by: Ryan Lippmann | August 17, 2011 at 04:23 PM
HEY JUSTIN! Isn't there an admin password to delete some of the above???
Posted by: Matt P | August 17, 2011 at 04:45 PM
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Hilarious.. All of it.
I'm actually considering a Saturday wod.
Posted by: Jen | August 17, 2011 at 05:13 PM
Jen is dying to see if Lippmann swims as well as he pumps up a bike tire.
Posted by: brother mike | August 17, 2011 at 06:37 PM
Jen! Do it! I love (also creeped out by) this CFES family a little more each day!
Posted by: Alice | August 17, 2011 at 06:43 PM
Bummer to miss this...have been in Tahoe all week, but, instead of enjoying, and doing WODs in some elevation, have been sick all week....:o(
Like the articles referenced anyway!
