5 year old Luke begins his training for the Olympics with coach Angela. This is a 9# squat clean and jerk. It doesn't quite pass USAW standards for the clean and jerk, but not bad for the first day. If USAW had a dance contest, Luke would win for sure.

So that's what you mean by a "minimum wage blog post" ayy Justin?

Haha...thought this was some random you-tube video. Didn't realize this was the spawn of Angela...

Swim WOD at the River Park Pool at 1:00 today. If any of you want to join me please comment so I can bring the rudimentary equipment needed.

Justin, I would love to do a swim WOD! But, I can only make them after work or on weekends. How about a McKinley Park pool swim WOD some Saturday during lap swim 11-1?

Luke and I will be at the swim today. I'll use any excuse not to wash my hair today. One question that I'm hoping the other gals have: I don't own a speedo, so how do I keep it rated PG for a swim WOD? Super tight board shorts and a sports bra?
And Luke was saying, "Need to get the sillies out" before he picked up the bar. I know, I know, he's super cute. But remember THAT has to sit still on an airplane with me tomorrow.

Oh, and I am just about ready to explode trying not to comment about Angela's swimsuit question. Someone else please do the honors.

Thanks Ari! Praying to the MU God (Travis) and wkg on his transition skills helps.

Great job on the 30 MU form time Cherie! Full lock out, legit MU. So proud.

Another cool reason to sign up for Beyond the White Board (www.beyondthewhiteboard.com) is the customer service. They respond to questions quickly. I sent them and e mail this morning asking if there was a way to track your progression over specific lifts (for example, if you did 5-5-3-3-1-1-1 deadlift in September 2010, then 3-3-3-1-1-1 in December 2010 and 1-1-1-1-1-1 in February of 2011 and 3-3-3-2-2-1-1-1 in June 2011 could you have BTWB collect and show you your max lift on those sets either just by collecting the data on one page or by graph. The response: that function is going to be available in the next few weeks.

Fun times and a great WOD in the pool with Angela, Big Rob, Aaron Smith, Travis and myself.
AMRAP 20 Min:
66 Yard Swim (up and back in a 33 yard poo)
20 Sandbag Lunge 80/50
20 Push Ups
I did 6 rounds and feel pretty smashed from it. Water is not my buddy and sandbag lunges literally kick my ass.
I am reserving the pool for all of us on Saturday August 20th from 10-12 to do a WOD. More details to come. Get PUMPED!

Swim WOD was a fun change today. Tons of kids, but I actually didn't have a hard time dodging them (only another crossfitter, ha). Board shorts and bikini top tied tight (tx Cort) worked just fine... at least no one told me otherwise. Bring goggles and tie your hair back. So gals, I don't think you need to invest in a special suit to do this. Just make do with what is in your closet.
And Luke and I hung around for the waterslide and high dive.

I'm pumped.

Bummed that I missed the swim WOD.
Angela - Last year there were cute/cheap Nike/Speedo/TYR suits at Big5. If you want a super tight/super expensive/not so cute/illegal for swimming competition suit, talk to B. But it sounded like the bikini top and board shorts worked fine...and probably made the CFES men happy too!
I'll see if we have some swim caps and goggles we don't use laying around to bring in. B?

Whaddya mean the lift didn't meet USAW standards? I distinctly hear the judge saying,"Good lift!"
Angela, great video. Thanks for sharing it with us!!
Oh man, now I am gonna have to get my head wet if I'm wanna be a CFer?!?!?!?!?
I dunno, Justin.
Good luck to Oly lifters practicing tomorrow. I am off to a family event, so instead of practicing lifts I will work on ankle flexibility and strength for about 6 miles. It's totally legit...
Posted by: Jennifer R. | August 12, 2011 at 05:26 PM
Jen- don't yog 6 miles. Do 6 one mile repeats with 1-2 Minute rest between efforts. You will get a million times more out of it and see the same scenery.

So bummed I missed the swim WOD. Aaggggghhhh.
Posted by: Hollis | August 12, 2011 at 07:01 PM
Yeah Jen! Why don't you go for a steep hike instead of yogging.
