Row for Cal
As a fitness coach, I wish I had a dollar for every excuse I have heard. Kira made her final excuse two weeks ago, and now she's fresh out of excuses and ready to do everything in her power to maintain her fitness.
Kira up on a the Saturday morining of the CF Gamse, opened up her favorite home page, CFES of course, and saw the 5k run that was posted. Not in the mood to do a run that day, she decided to CHEAT on us and went to the good ol' globo gym for a good ol' traditional workout. Kira ended up taking a nasty spill off a malfunctioning step-mill that day and blew out her ACL and meniscus. Watch out folks, the CF Gods can be spiteful.
Now facing reconstructive knee surgery, Kira is determined as ever to get her workouts in. I have been working with her to get her through workouts that will help maintain her strength and conditioning as she goes through her surgery and recovery. Working out with an injury can be frusturating and difficult, but the alternative will leave you in even more despair.
So next time you think you have an excuse to skip a WOD, think again. For one your excuse is probably bullshit, and for two something bad could happen. No more excuses. Where there is a will, there is always a way.
Kira: best wishes on your upcoming surgery.
Justin: I'd rather just give you the dollar.
Cheers.

I really like the use of the other rower's slide to prop the bad leg on! Heal up quick!

Kira, so sorry to hear about your injury--I wish you a super speedy recovery.

Justin -
I feel properly punished and humble. I'll never cheat again. Thank you so much for working with me during this period. It's too easy to feel sorry for yourself - I'd rather sweat hard and bust (one side of) my ass (the other side is already withering away). ; )

Kira, you're amazing and your courage is unreal. An inspiration to us all.

Kira, so sorry about your injury! Don't let Justin give you too hard a time; some of us got injured following the Crossfit Commandment: Try other sports!
The Crossfit gods are fickle and inscrutable. We do what we can to propitiate them, but situations occur.
Your own will and Justin and Travis'' training will carry you through!

Major props to the nooners today. I may have gotten a little too pumped up and excited, but heck, I was stoked to be doing that workout with you guys. I'm pretty sure we all did more than we had thought we were capable of; myself included. That's what it's all about. Thanks for bringin it! Let's step up the energy in this place! The time is NOW!
