Here's the gang from the trail run out at Salmon Falls on Saturday. They seemed a bit confused in this shot. Could be the lack of sugar in our blood, or maybe the altitude, but that is Adam K and Brooks staring off into outer space. Cherie, Derek and Kyle are staring into the sun as if they were on PCP. Loren and Alice are greeting the mountain bikers. Travis is making sure his numb feet are still there, and poor Alley is trying to figure out what the hell is wrong with all these people.
We are shown here at the North end of Lake Folsom between the South and Middle forks ot the American River flow into the lake. We ran 4.7 miles out from where we parked. The second half of the run had some intense hill climbing bringing us from the lake level up to about 1400 feet elevation. Doesn't sound that high, but give it a shot some time, this hill just keeps coming at you. The run out took us between 50 minutes and an hour with Kyle Keller leading the charge. We walked back to the cars at a lesuire pace enjoying the outdoors and good company. It really is good to get out sometimes. Thanks to you all for coming out.

From NorCal 40s site, posted last night.
"After an afternoon checking and re-checking the numbers, we can confirm that a mistake was made and we had an error in the final scores last night. The standings for the top 5 women in the correct order are:
Allison Belger – 7.75
Bonnie Lynn – 25.0
Sabrina Teller – 25.5
Cori Boone – 25.75
Shannon Tipton – 27.5
The difference in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place women is an astonishing .75. The competition was so tight and one small error on our part entering data under pressure last night gave us false results. We found the error and corrected it immediately this morning. Our deepest apologies to those affected, we will be in touch. Mainly, we need to get Sabrina some prizes! Congratulations to all these ladies – a true testament to how “every second counts”. You are all amazing and we thank you for being a part of an incredible day yesterday."

Some of us (and by some, I mean me) took longer than an hour on the run (and by run, I mean intervals of yoggin and walking) but its okay. I actually lost sleep over this...my deepest fear being alone alone alone in the wilderness w/ a sprained ankle or worse. But Trav was nice enough to slow to my pace, stop and stretch here and there to make sure I was okay until I was comfortable that I wasn't going to die out there. Fun? Not really but glad I did it cuz now I know I can and if I have to run 5 miles on flat land, I'll think its a piece of cake.

Looks like an awesome run. Speaking of running, today is the last day of early registration pricing for tough mudder NorCal, being held at Northstar in September (sorry for the late notice, I wasn't even aware of this until last night). For those wanting to join the CFES team, shoot me an email at seanetalley@gmail.com and I'll send you an invite. Last year we had about 20 participants, let's try to top that in 2012.

Totally jealous of trail runners. Totally stoked about Sabrina's 3rd place finish!

Nice work Sabrina and Cori!

Well I admit the spread between 1st and 2nd place looked like a clerical error. So I looked up Allison Belger to see who she is. That must have been an incredible performance.

Hey folks here's another great article by Scott. Sort of his year in review of http://libernetics.com/writings/?p=496

Great article Scott! Just when I was having one of those days when I let the whiteboard discourage me, you put things back into perspective. Thank you!

Great job on the trail run. I'm sorry I missed that. Big, big thanks to everyone who came to Richmond to support and cheer for us oldsters on Sunday. It made a huge difference to me to have a wall of CFES peeps screaming in my face for that last round of thrusters! I guarantee y'all made me do at least 5-8 more thrusters than I really wanted to do. :)

Cherie: you're quite welcome. It's funny because I was thinking about the very thing you mentioned: the whiteboard. I would come in, look at the WOD, and think, "crap! I can't do that stuff!" and I'd be mad and nervous. And eventually I started thinking, well how can I scale this down to fit what I can actually do today? Which of course is what Travis kept saying all along. Of course I had to also get used to lower scores.
Now it the other whiteboard that aggravates me -- you know the one with all the scores. I keep thinking, how can I get on that board?
Well I suppose that's progress of some sort.

Regarding those NorCal results spreads: Justin says the #1 placement results from winning lots of the workouts. Which could mean a difference of one rep. I suppose that if one person did outperform everybody consistently, the score should reflect that.
But the implication is that the #1 placement is magnitudes better then anyone else. Which for all I know is true. But it seems hard to grasp (at least for me).

Scott, if you're curious how these things are scored, check out the results on Wodleader.com. Our final scores were the results of adding the placements in WODs 1, 2 and 3 together, and then 1/4 of the placements in all four of the "floater" wods (rope, bench, burpee/wall and rows). So since Allison Belger won or placed very high in most of her events, she had a very low final score. Most of the rest of us had more variety in our placements in the events throughout the day, thus the much larger scores for us. But your overall point is correct - Allison is just a bad ass!
