Bob talks about the online response from the vocal minority regarding seeing the Biggest Loser contestants doing Farn. He talks about how CF has improved the competitive nature of training his clients, and the connection they share with him by knowing they are doing the same workout he does. He goes on to talk about how CrossFit has changed the fitness industry by increasing effeciency and decreasing injury. He also talks briefly about his nutirtional approach to helping people lose hundreds of pounds, eating fat and restricting carbohydrates is key. He also talks about how using CF methods on Biggeest Loser is exposing the masses to CF and is getting the message of functional fitness out to people that ESPN will never reach.

Three reasons to do Crossfit for the rest of your life:
1. Eventually everyone else will drop out of your age group and you will win the Games.
2. Snatch jokes keep you young (see Blake's post 'Never Leave the Playground' http://crossfiteastsac.typepad.com/crossfit_east_sacramento/2012/05/wod-find-more-inspiring-video-audio-and-images-at-growing-bolder-thanks-to-john-soon-to-be-farrell-wait-did-i-get-th.html)
3. One of the things I get from all this is really the community. On days where I don't want to come to the gym, I know several friends will be there and even if I don't really want to work out I want to see them so I drag my ass here- then the friendly competition gets me through even when I am not that motivated. That doesn't happen many other places in the world and something I hope to continue for the next 40 or so years.

Team-Bob videos maybe entertaining; but -
TEAM CFES holds you accountable
as in "No Rap"
and keeping an eye on your form.

Bob is such a likable guy ... great spokesman/face for CF.

I hope you guys stay tuned for what is to come here at CFES! Justin, Travis and I are all discussing and actively seeking quality ways to alleviate the class crowds and varying degrees of skill level per class. This will not happen overnight nor will it be a quick fix, but it is actively being addressed and I for one look forward to seeing more people get in to CrossFit!

Looking forward to the changes, Chris. Hey, you know what would be a good way to motivate people to move into Level 1? A Newbie Throwdown! When's that going to happen?

Yay! Newbie Throwdown!! ;)
Posted by: Donna | May 09, 2012 at 01:05 PM
And you know why people are begging for Newbie T-down again, Chris? It's all the trash talk and Skit competition that they miss, right?

Grandpa, the point of Bob's comment was that the contestants are doing the best they can and that it's ok that they can't do the form correctly in their state. It's an important message to realize that full range of motion takes a certain fintess level and time spent working towards. I am sure Bob is pushing them that direction, but with people as out of shape as on that show, it will take significantly longer than the average person walking into a CF.

Plus - Cherie would love to air out her costumes and wigs!

Brooke- when I saw skit competition, I was just wondering where the whipped cream would end up this year.
Posted by: brother mike | May 09, 2012 at 04:49 PM
Brooke, whipped cream is a new standard for skit - it has to be done. Bro Mike in a short dress just ain't shocking enough.

We must, must, must do another Newbie Throwdown...pretty please. And skits must be required!
