Some new challenges came up this week for you strength class folks. Heavy turkish get-ups made an appearance (as did my shrill instructions to be purposeful in your movements). For my weekend warriors, the "unilateral" kettlebell complex put y'all to work. 1 handed kb clean, bent press, overhead squat, Sotts press, stand up. While there was plenty of hard work from class members, there were some pretty limiting mobility issues for the bent presses and overhead squats as well.
Poor mobility has been holding a few of you back even in our regular barbell work. So, this week's challenge: find a stretch or supplemental exercise related to your immobility or to our lifts this week (check MobilityWOD, EliteFTS, anything reputable) and practice it every day. Do a mobility exercise of secondary importance every day; as a bonus, all this helps prevent injuries. Accumulate as many minutes as possible. Document how long you spend in your WOD log, and do a test beforehand and retest after to see if there was improvement in your ROM or how you felt.
The person accumulating the most mobility minutes with documentation on your test/retest will get a bonus during Saturday strength class!
Tuesday: last thruster day, heavy doubles.
Thursday: last bench with commands day.
Saturday: speed shoulder press and kb work.
