The Open starts on March 6th and it is time to get everyone registered. And by everyone, I mean EVERYONE!!!
5 workouts over 5 weeks. Every Wednesday a new workout will be announced and it must be completed and logged into the system by Sunday night. The workouts are generally accessible to all levels of CrossFitter and are appropriate for all to participate in. This is not at the level of regionals or the games, or even many of the local events you all have witnessed. The Open is designed for universal participation for all who participate in CrossFit.
At CFES we expect universal participation in the CrossFit Open. Regardless of your age, ability, or eperience, this is the annual worldwide barometer of how fit you are and how fit our gym is. You have absolutely nothing to lose by participating. You will do the workouts here at the gym regardless of whether or not you acutally register. Even if you have to scale something, you need to participate in this event. To me it's very simple. If you do CrossFit, you need to do the Open. If you can't muster up 20 bucks, I will pay it for you. If you can't muster up the courage to particiapte, you need to find a different place to workout.
The whole gym will be talking and buzzing about this event. Please don't exclude yourself or get left out. Make it a training goal to participate in and complete all 5 workouts each to the best of your current abilities. We do not care what your scores are, we want to be the gym with the highest participation rate possible in this level of our sport. Please support and represent us!

Soon there will be 28.
A late entry to yesterday's blog:
The ditzy-goofy girl who attempts the workout with a pair of mismatched dumbbells (say a 20# and a 25#)AND doesn't notice it until she puts them away.

Or 29.
Jen, it's a plus since most things in life are mismatched, at least based on my "eperience".
Justin, please make sure there is plenty of re-hydrating fluid at the kegerator for the open :).

I wanted to chime in for any newer members who may be apprehensive or intimidated: do yourself a favor and do the Open! I did it last year (even though I was completely intimidated) after only a few months doing CrossFit and it was a fantastic experience. During the Open I did all kinds of things I had no idea I could do (higher box jumps, first ever double under and toes to bar, and a few PRs), and I got a lot of great support from experienced members. It really helped me feel connected to the great community we have here. Just a little pep talk for anyone who may be on the fence. Everyone will be cheering for you!
